I’m so excited to share our Moody Powder Room Makeover with you!
When we built this house I wanted all white walls but I have always wanted to do a funky powder room. So, we painted it white with the idea that I would jazz it up in the future.
Here’s what it looked like before…
A little boring… I’ve always loved interesting bathrooms in pretty hotels or restaurants. I’ve seen some with pretty gallery walls of just random things. Funky frames and sayings. So with that in mind, I started looking on pinterest and checking out cool art work. I’d wanted to try out a dark paint color and this was the perfect space for it.
A great way to gather all of your ideas in one place is to create a mood board. Mine is very simple but it helped me visualize everything together.
I fell in love with the “Don’t Rush Me” first Ha! All of these prints I found on Etsy and they are digital, except for the Disco sign. From there I collaborated with Frame It Easy. Let me tell you, it IS so easy. Find your digital art, upload it to their site, pick your frame and matting and they do the rest. Comes to your door ready to hang. Or you can just pick your frame and then put your own art or photos in it.
Once I had the gallery wall picked out I started looking at paint colors. In came Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze!
It is not black, but more of a dark grey, brown, sometimes green moody color. I can see why it is the color of the year!
I’m trying to find another place I can paint this color! I love it! It’s really amazing what paint can do.
Then came the nerve racking part…
I spent hours trying to figure out how to hang these! There are many tutorials on Pinterest for gallery walls I looked at but just couldn’t get it right.
My brain just cannot style things randomly, I’ve concluded. After a lot of back and forth, I ended up measuring the wall out from the corners to center the whole thing then just started nailing. I know, crazy.
Turned out pretty good though! What do you think?
My color scheme for the prints was black, white and gold with a pink accent. I tried to keep the frames coordinating so that it wouldn’t look totally random.
From there I grabbed a gold soap dispenser and blush hand towel from target. The gold really pops against the wall color!
This vintage looking rug from Urban Oufitters was a perfect fit with its pops of pink.
I think everything came together really good! I love that our guests get to see this fun room too! Let me know in the comments if you have any questions!
Big thank you to Frame It Easy for providing the framing!!
On to the next room…
XOXO,
Jo
