I wasn’t sure what to call this post exactly.  It’s not a “makeover” because it was never “made”.  But it is fresh and functional!

I’ve left our laundry room mostly unfinished at our last two builds.  One-budget.  Two-to have a chance to use the space and see exactly what I need.

This is where this one started:

YIKES.

Not functional at all.  I knew I needed a couple of cabinets and some counter space.  Also, a place to hang clothes to dry.

Our cabinet maker helped my vision come to life!  A couple of upper cabinets for storage and butcher block counters and shelves.

I went with a charcoal color on the cabinets to give some contrast and I love them!

I saw the idea of running the shelf up over the back of the washer and dryer on Pinterest, and I really like it.  It gives you a place to put your laundry supplies without them being on the dryer.  Also gives a finished look.

I had big plans to either stencil or wallpaper the back wall and didn’t get to it.  I may still do something, but this is good for now.

I also added this nifty broom and mop holder.  Getting things up off the floor gives so much more room and just makes things look neater.

The rod under the cabinet is actually a towel rod from Home Depot!  Its perfect for hanging clothes.

The hanging decor is from Hobby Lobby!  The baskets, faux plant, rug and sign were all things I already had.

My daughters painted the sign’s frame black and it totally changed the look and cost nothing!

I love having the space under the counter to store our laundry basket.  It also houses the dog food bin (not pictured) 🙂

The top is great for folding laundry.

I spent a few dollars on these glass jars to display our laundry detergent and wool dryer balls.  They make the room more fun and stylish.  If you spend as much time doing laundry as I do, you want something fun and pretty to look at.

Just a few changes made such an impact visually and functionally.  I don’t mind going in there as much now! 😉
